This last week Steve has been in Utah and Steve's Dad has been with me in Casper. Well, My gas is now turned on but my oven and dryer still aren't hooked up. Basically, I have a lot of dirty clothes and Frozen Pizza's begging to be cooked.
Since I have no oven to cook, we have been going out for dinner. Last night, my father in law really wanted Spaghetti. We've had no Luck with Olive Garden as you know so we tried another Italian Restaurant in town. It's called Bosco's. It seemed kind of appealing because it's been in Casper forever, it's locally owned, and seemed like a mom and pop kitchen. What could be bad about that?
We get there, and it looks pieced together. Christmas lights, picture of George W hanging up next to the state wrestler champs of 1995. Candles for sale, Corona and O'douls salt and pepper shakers, menus made with Microsoft Word, seating for 50-60 ppl, and dinners that were surprisingly expensive and not to mention that your paper placemat also showed what cocktails they had, the drink's pictures, and what they were made out of. I will try to post some pictures, but the restaurant was super dark too!
My father in law ordered spaghetti and I got the Lasagna that I was craving last week when we went to Olive Garden. Both of us received salad and bread with our dinners. However, my lasagna dinner also received a cup of chicken noodle soup.
My soup was hot-- but tasted like it was made over three weeks ago. The noodles were mush and I didn't dare eat the chicken and the base was too green for my preference.
The salads were good, minus the black olives-- they had a very bad taste to them. The non garlic bread I liked and the garlic bread my father in law liked.
The dinner was a crack up though. We were served giant portions of pasta and Lasagna. My Lasagna was okay but drowned in red sauce. It was really not a whole lot more than a frozen lasagna. My father in law's spaghetti with meat balls was awful though!!! He told me I just had to try them because they were so bad!!! I had to gag them down. The consistency was more like paste than meat--so gross. We basically picked at my lasagna until we weren't hungry enough to go to another place and get food.
When our waitress asked if we wanted dessert I was too scared to have it be disgusting or just blah so I opted out. Especially after like 3 out of the 12 desserts were made in house rather than brought in (Maybe that was a good thing?). My father in law decided that it could be worth a try and he ordered a piece of carrot cake to go-- Our waitress went to go get it and came back to inform us that they were all out.
I just can't seem to win with a bunch of the Casper restaurants. So far Outback, a local Steakhouse called "Firerock," another place called "Sanford's", McDonald's, Burger King, a place called "Happy Sushi", and Quiznos are the only places that haven't let me down.
The list that has let me down seems twice as long and is almost sad, and it usually takes A LOT to make me unhappy at a restaurant. The worst part is now I totally expect it wherever I go. When I go out in Utah now, I am like flabergasted when I get food that is hot, what I ordered, and no hair! It is so wonderful.
Arby's- Served my sandwich on a hard/burnt bun and often forgets your curly fries.
Subway- Kids behind the counter are probably about to pop a cap in someone--so emo, so scary!
Olive Garden- Where should I start? Hair in food, crummy manager, out of everything, forgets half of your to go order.
A local Mexican Restaurant called "Gaudalajara's"- Server doesn't speak English and food was soggy.
Bosco's- no need to repeat myself.
Taco Bell- screws up order... more than once.
Wendy's- the girl who works the lunch shift has no communication skills or listening skills. She also seems very put out when you ask her for what you actually ordered.
One of the Mcdonald's (before new managment)- 15+ minutes waiting in the drive through for a stinking sandwich.
Taco Time- 10+ minutes in the drive through at the window waiting for my order and the order was wrong by the time I got it and their nachos suck.
These are just a few of the local food establishments that I have had a less than fabulous experience. It's really depressing--especially since I still don't have freaking gas hooked up to my oven. I just thought I would post all of this to for my many readers so none of them will never have to be less than thrilled in a Casper Restaurant. Hahahahahaha.
